This applet shows the connection between the transfer function in the s plane and the frequency response as a function of w.
The plot shows the magnitude of the transfer function of a system with 2 real poles. The magitude of the frequency response is the magnitude of the transfer function along the imaginary axis shown as a magenta line in the plot.
