PID Control 3P T1T2T3 Step Response and Root Locus
Cuthbert Nyack
Applet shows the root locus of a third order type 0 system with PID control.
The parameters eg
(0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 33.0, 0.0) show the root locus
of the P control system. Changing to eg
(0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.5, 0.0) introduces I control
with a pole at 0 and a zero at -2. Changing to eg
(0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.8, 0.2) adds D control
to give PID with 2 zeros at -2.5. The parameters eg
(0.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 0.8, 0.5) show the locus
pulled to the left of the imaginary axis by the
complex conjugate PID zeros. eg parameters
(2.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 2.4, 0.6) give a reasonable response, but the poles move vertically.
