PD Control Second Order Type 1 Step and Ramp response
Cuthbert Nyack
The applets here show the step and ramp response of a type 1 second
order system with PD control.
The continuous system is discretised by a back difference
approximation to the derivative and a ZOH transformation of the
system transfer function.
eg parameters (5.0, 3.0, 0.8, 0.1, 1.0, 1.0). Reasonable
agreement between continuous and discrete system.
eg parameters (5.0, 3.0, 0.8, 0.5, 3.0, 1.0). Significant
damped oscillation on discrete response.
eg parameters (9.6, 3.0, 0.8, 0.5, 3.0, 1.0). Discrete system
oscillatory.
eg parameters (10.5, 3.0, 0.8, 0.5, 3.0, 0.1). Discrete system
unstable with growing oscillation.
